WELCOME TO THE QUAD C

50TH ANNIVERSARY CONVENTION

August 2 - 4, 2024.

Hosted by the Northern Alberta Corvette Owners Club

NACOC is proud to be the host of the Canadian Council of Corvette Clubs Western Region (Quad C) 50th Anniversary Convention, 2024. We have an action packed and memorable event planned for you. NACOC started in 1970, was one of the founding members of Quad C in 1974 and was chosen to host the First Quad C Convention in 1975.

To help you get the most out of your weekend experience here is a summary of some key events that are outlined on the Schedule of Events starting with some important items that will be going on all weekend.

In the past we have had special guests for the weekend and this year is no exception. We are pleased to announce that Tom and Carolyn Peters will be our guests for the whole weekend. Tom was with GM Styling and Design for 35 years and was inducted into the Corvette Hall of Fame in 2019. (see the YouTube video courtesy of NCM) Recently retired he was the Director of the Exterior Design for the C6, C7 and C8 Corvettes and is considered one of the Top 10 designers in GM history. He is currently curating a display at the Corvette Museum about Big “Daddy” Ed Roth Cars and his Art. Both he and his wife Carolyn will be around all weekend to participate and meet you.

Our host hotel is the ROYAL HOTEL EDMONTON AIRPORT located at 8450 Sparrow Drive in Leduc, Alberta.  Phone:  (780) 986 - 1840.  For room booking, quote special reservation code 080124NOR. We will have the Cessna room in the hotel set up with a display of artifacts and memorabilia highlighting 50 years of Quad C Corvetting all weekend. It will include such items as Newsletters, Friend Finders, T-shirts, Trophies, pictures, and other memorable items from the past 50 Years.

On Friday we will have the welcome reception and buffet as outlined on the schedule. Don't forget to build a Valve Cover Racer for Friday night's fun event.  There are even cash prizes!  Who will be "King of the Hill"? (See VCR details below). This is always a fun event. Keep your eyes open to meet and talk with Tom and Carolyn Peters.

On Saturday we will start with the Concours / Show and Shine in the parking lot. We will start the scavenger hunt at 1:00 from the hotel and will go to a Private Collection. This is not open to the public but by special permission only. They have built an impressive collection of cars and memorabilia. It is housed in 20,000 Sq ft and is set up like a mini city including a Coke Fountain, General store, Dress Shop and mini–Gas Stations with antique gas pumps. They have the largest Franklin car collection from 1903 to 1933 in Canada as well as other 50’s and 60’s cars. There is also a collection of all the Meccano sets ever made plus much much more. You do not want to miss this tour. The admission fee, which is donated to charity will be courtesy of NACOC and our sponsors.

The banquet Saturday night will feature an Open Mic for the Quad C Presidents and all members to talk about their experiences and memories over the past 50 years of Corvetting with Quad C. After the open Mic we will be introducing Hot Wheels Racing. It runs like Valve cover racing. We have a multiple lane track and will feature eliminations to see who will be the top three. It costs $5.00 to enter a car and is open to everyone. Bring your own Hot Wheel car or you can buy one there for $2.00. All the entrance fees will be split between the top three finishers.

On Sunday during the day, we have our Double Slalom Racing at Stratotech Park by Ft. Saskatchewan. It is about a 45-minute drive from the Hotel. It features a 1.8 Km  (1.1 Mile) Motorsport Track (see Below). We have used this facility many times and it is always a challenging track for our events. The track is a great facility featuring spectator grandstands with a view of the entire track, competitor, and spectator parking as well as great restroom facilities. If you are coming make sure you register for the track lunch of a sub, chips, and a drink.

On Sunday night we will have the Weekend Awards banquet. Tom Peters will be our Guest Speaker with a Presentation you will not want to miss. Then we will wrap up the weekend with the Awards from all the competition events and a time of getting together.

Please note that QUAD C is Sponsoring a FREE TICKET TO THE FIRST 75 CURRENT OR PAST  QUAD C MEMBERS WHO REGISTER FOR THE SUNDAY BANQUET. For the complimentary CCCC Sunday banquet, the onus is on the registrant to confirm current or past membership in CCCC as noted on the Registration Form. Register early so you do not miss out!

NACOC members will be there all weekend to help you with anything you need. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions at tcholl@telusplanet.net  or 780-886-9951.

We are looking forward to Celebrating 50 Years of Quad C and Corvetting with you and trust we will all make lasting memories this weekend!
